5 Fun Ideas for Cold Brew

Cold brew is fantastic. It is one of our favorite drinks here at Van Dyke, but what do you do when you want to mix things up a little bit? Here are five different things to do with your coldbrew!

Picture

  1. Cold Brew Latte - Sometimes you want something warm, but what do you do when you only have cold brew? Well, steam some milk and mix it 50/50 with your cold brew and now you have a wonderful cold brew latte.

  2. Faux-Affogato - Craving some affogato but you don't have any espresso on hand? Pour some cold brew on some vanilla ice cream and you have some wonderful Faux-Affogato.

  3. Cold Brew Ice Cubes - Ever wondered what you are going to do with that last bit of cold brew that isn't quite a whole drink? Place it in an ice cube tray and freeze it. In the morning you will have some ice cubes that you can add to coffee to get iced coffee without watering it down.

  4. Use it in a recipe - Check out this fantastic recipe to make cold brew steak fajitas.

  5. Mixed Drinks Anyone? - Cold Brew is a great ingredient to use for mixed drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic alike. Here are six great recipes for great coffee cocktails

Great job with the blog guys. Everything you've posted so far has been very helpful.
I've been making some cold brew at home with a French press and so far I like the results, but I'd love it of you guys made a cold brew guide to help make it better. How long can I brew it for? My average time so far is between 12-24 hrs, but I'm curious if I could get even better results if I brew for a longer period...

Hello Alberto,

My name is Drew and I run the website/facebook as well as write the blog. I will most certainly be putting up a cold brew guide for the blog soon (if not tomorrow). To answer your question, it would be more adventageous to look at your grind size when brewing. You can keep the same length of time but change the results buy making the grind more fine or more coarse. There will be a few more hints coming soon, so keep on the lookout for another post.

We are glad you are enjoying the posts so far.

Drew

Awesome post! It was nice meeting you yesterday Drew! Not sure what your schedule looks like but would love to hang out over coffee some time and pick your brain about coffee, the PNW, and design, haha. I have a design background as well!
