The Clever Dripper is truly one of the best device to produce coffee at home. It was the device that I (Drew) started using when I first got into coffee, and it is a device that I keep in my office to make a cup when I need my caffeine fix. If you follow this guide, you can create a fantastic cup of coffee anywhere you have hot water and some coffee. Items needed: ~500ml hot water, 30g coffee, coffee grinder, Clever Dripper, No. 4 filter (preferably bleached), and a scale. Step 1: Fold the crease in the No. 4 filter and place it inside the Clever. Add ~100 ml of water to warm up the device and wash out any paper taste in the filter. Empty the water from the device. Step 2: Grind 30g of freshly roasted coffee (the Van Dyke Guatemala works perfect) on a medium grind and add it to the empty device. Make sure the device is on level ground and not on top of your coffee mug. Step 3: Add around 80ml of water (heated to 205 degrees Fahrenheit) to the coffee and let it bloom for around 45 seconds.
Step 4: Add the hot water until you reach 400ml of water. Place the top on the device, and let sit for 3 minutes. Step 5: Once the time is up, place the device on top of your mug or cup and let drain. This should take around 90-120 seconds. Step 6: Remove the filter, rinse the device, and enjoy your freshly brewed coffee.
